The Huawei Ireland team has secured a Top 3 position in the Seeds for the Future Tech4Good global final held in China. Known as Team Anaphero, the group of five students from Irish universities impressed with their innovative wearable device aimed at detecting early signs of anaphylactic shock. Using sensors, 5G networks, and AI models, the device provides real-time alerts to parents and caregivers.
Ciara O’Reilly, Dublin City University student and Team Anaphero representative, expressed excitement: “We are beyond thrilled to be honoured in this way and to win with this project. The team is incredibly grateful to Huawei for giving us this opportunity to visit China and compete on the global stage. We are also looking forward to continuing the development of our project with the support of Huawei and the start-up ecosystem they have given us access to.”
Their journey involved participating in the Tech4Good Accelerator Camp in Shenzhen from April 7 to 10, followed by live project pitches on April 11. Alongside achieving Top 3 status, Team Anaphero earned the People’s Selection Award for their impactful project.
Baolin Liang, PR Manager at Huawei Ireland, highlighted the programme’s benefits: “Seeds for the Future has, since its inception in 2015, benefited more than 280 students from Irish universities through the unique learning and culture experience of the European competition. And now we carried this success through to the global competition.”
Huawei’s Seeds for the Future initiative supports STEM students and aims to build digital communities, share knowledge, and nurture future talent. Interested students can find more details online.
